Their collaboration dates back to a chance meeting in a music store and later on becoming neighbors in Cologne, Germany. From there, they began making music together. The Lonely Robot has described their back-and-forth as ping-pong, where their similar styles complement each other but with new twists and ideas each time.<br><br>Mario came up in the techno\/house scene but later switched to an ambient style of music.&nbsp;&#8220;You can put so many emotions into ambient music,&#8221; he told us in a previous interview. &#8220;You can catch the listeners from one second in the beginning and take them on a journey. This is why I really like film music, ambient, electronica \u2026 so many different genres today. It&#8217;s a way to transport the listeners. And that&#8217;s why I was so happy to work on <em>Renewal 2121<\/em> and set the music to moving pictures. It&#8217;s a complete sound experience. You must feel it; it&#8217;s a totally new feeling.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.artechouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/David-Levy-Headshot-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3900\" width=\"286\" height=\"281\"\/><figcaption>Composer David Levy<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>David Levy,<\/strong> who co-composed the soundtrack for NYC\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artechouse.com\/program\/geometric-properties\/\"><em>Geometric Properties<\/em><\/a>, never pursued any kind of formal education in music. He has a degree in psychology, but he became an audio engineer in his twenties and wrote music on the side for fun. Later, he ended up doing it full-time, and this led to his collaboration with Julius Horsthuis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I think it was just the magnitude of what he was doing, and the visuals looked stunning. That drew me in automatically,\u201d he said in an interview earlier this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The fractals almost dictate what needs to be heard. They have some emotional content to them, in my opinion.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In terms of developing the <em>Geometric Properties<\/em> score, it took a bit of tweaking to get things exactly right. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">&#8220;I felt something initially, but it made the piece sound a little too sad and too heavy. We revisited it, and we hit the spot where it&#8217;s not too sad, not too happy, and it&#8217;s walking the line in between everything,\u201d Levy told us.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.artechouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/MichaelHeadShot-725x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3901\" width=\"211\" height=\"298\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artechouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/MichaelHeadShot-725x1024.jpeg 725w, https:\/\/www.artechouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/MichaelHeadShot-212x300.jpeg 212w, https:\/\/www.artechouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/MichaelHeadShot-768x1085.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.artechouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/MichaelHeadShot.jpeg 900w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 211px) 100vw, 211px\" \/><figcaption>Composer Michael Stearns<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Michael Stearns<\/strong>\u2014who you may already know for his compositions for <em>Chronos<\/em>, <em>Baraka<\/em>, and <em>Samsara<\/em>, among a host of other impressive things\u2014also co-composed the <em>Geometric Properties<\/em> soundtrack;
